Those who believe that body shaming is uncool should be the majority,

Because it’s long overdue that EVERYONE understands the issue and its enormity,

Body shamers should just stop immediately as a matter of utmost priority,

Simply because no one has actually given them that kind of authority!

They start spitting venom out their mouths like it’s the norm,

And make nasty comments and remarks about one’s body and form,

They even give UNCALLED-FOR advice thinking they are helping transform,

When, instead, they should focus on themselves and being warm!

They seem to be present everywhere and are hard to escape,

And, VERY IRONICALLY, come in no particular form or shape!

How do molesters and assaulters walk on the streets freely?

When the criminals should be behind bars, really.

Let me put this straight at the probable cost of sounding very silly,

But the streets are being claimed by everyone besides those who should, ideally.

STREET HARRASSMENT doesn’t seem to be anywhere close to going away,

And a price for that, who should pay?

They made the streets threatening be it night or day!

And with that off-putting MALE GAZE, we are never ever welcome anyway!

The lingering dread and angst we still feel on the streets says that the fight is far from won,

And till the harassers are made to mind their own business, it won't be done!

Dear Reporters of Crime Against Women,

Do not talk of the gruesome torture because that’s not the gist.

Hey, come on, it shouldn’t be so hard to resist.

Instead, to the extent that it’s permitted, name and shame the rapist,

Or detail out how and where to find a considerate therapist.

Until the spotlight is shifted from the victim to the perpetrator,

There may be little hope of it getting any better.

You could also do an in-depth analysis of the criminals and be a trendsetter.

Shedding light upon their sick mentality and revealing more about their personality could only help us later.

Please try not to defend and protect the offenders or trigger drama,

And don't, at any cost, try to justify their crimes and the caused trauma!

It is a banned practice that is still around,

And, that enough, should (more than) astound,

But there ought to be ACTION and common ground,

Putting an end to something so inhumane shouldn't confound.

It’s an evil that all of society is better off without,

Lives of thousands needlessly put at stake isn’t trivial, no doubt.

So, concrete steps, by those in power, should be taken throughout,

To let the very necessary changes be brought about!

And then, finally, why not do what should have been done long before,

And kill the profession before it kills any more!

Yes, they look terrific when they walk all in sync,

Knowing too well that their life could be shattered in an eyeblink…

But doesn’t this give something for everyone to think?

We need peace, not wars...now, let's let THAT sink!

Why not resort to diplomacy when “defence” can get too bloody?

Or talk of the mental damage done too in the aftermath study?

These aren’t just numbers because someone’s had to lose a parent or a buddy,

For all the long-lasting agony and heartbreaks, WHO EXACTLY take responsibility?

So, the next time we think about ways of resolving an issue, let’s wisely choose,

Because while nations may, in wars, win; humanity can only lose!

They may try to brainwash you, but please don’t be fooled,

And understand that patriarchy has, for a sad long time now, INCOMPETENTLY ruled!

And know that it’s the patriarchists who need to be schooled,

So that nobody’s thoughts and feelings get forcefully overruled!

 

They will try to pit females against one another,

But it is patriarchy that is the enemy, rather,

They will try to bombard you with their regressive thoughts but don’t bother,

And instead, try not to let misinformed minds pollute any further!

 

So, “a woman is a woman’s worst enemy”, the next time you hear,

Do counter it with "then who is a man's worst enemy, dear?"
